Adrian is a technology business leader and entrepreneur. He has worked in both academia and industry. His primary expertise is in materials science and electron microscopy; specializing in carbonaceous materials and electronic device materials.

Adrian was co-founder and CEO of Singular ID, a technology start-up company, from its initiation until its successful acquisition by a Bilcare Ltd, the world's largest pharmaceutical packaging multinational. In its early stages the company won the Nanochallenge business plan competition in Padua, Italy – a €300,000 first prize, reported to be the largest business plan prize in the world at the time. For his astute stewardship of the company he won the Entrepreneur of the Year award at the British Business Awards 2005 in Singapore and the JEMI UK Prize for Entrepreneurship award in 2010. Prior to starting Singular ID he led an industrial research group focused on developing Organic Light Emitting Displays (OLEDs).

His technical expertise and knowledge in the unique challenges of managing technology projects and companies have resulted in him being a frequent invited speaker at international conferences including the Lux Executive Summit and World Forum for Direct Investment. He has also conducted corporate technology road-mapping exercises for companies as far afield as Taiwan and Saudi Arabia.

Outside of his consultancy work, he remains passionate about start-ups and co-founded the Wyche Innovation Centre, a business accelerator and technology incubator. He is also Scientific Editor of the Royal Microscopical Society's inFocus magazine.

He is an “external expert” providing commercialization advice for the European Commission's “Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and New Production Technologies” (NMP) programme, which has €3.5 billion in funding.
